Microsoft sign-in
This guide describes how to connect a Microsoft account to xTool and use it to sign in.
Microsoft sign-in is optional. You can keep using your xTool email and password. Connecting Microsoft does not remove your password.
What you need
- An existing xTool account. Microsoft sign-in does not create an account.
- The same email address on your xTool account and on the Microsoft account you connect.
- A verified, active xTool account. If your email is not verified yet, or the account is inactive or blocked, Microsoft sign-in will not work.
- To connect Microsoft the first time: sign in with your email and password. You cannot connect Microsoft from the login page alone.
If you have two-step verification (TOTP) enabled, you still enter a code from your authenticator app (or a recovery code) after Microsoft sign-in. How to turn TOTP on: Two-step verification.
Connect Microsoft to your account
Do this once.
- Sign in to xTool with your email and password.
- Go to Account → Security.
- In Microsoft sign-in, click Connect Microsoft.
- Choose your Microsoft account and approve access.
- You return to the Security page. The status shows Connected.
When Microsoft is connected, the Security page also shows the linked Microsoft email, when it was linked, and when it was last used.
If the Microsoft email does not match your xTool email, or something else goes wrong, a message appears on the Security page. See Common messages.
Sign in with Microsoft
Use this after Microsoft is connected.
- Open the xTool login page.
- Click Continue with Microsoft.
- Choose your Microsoft account.
- If two-step verification is on, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app, or use a recovery code.
- You are taken into the application.
If Microsoft is not connected yet, sign-in with Microsoft will not work — you get the message Account not found. Connect Microsoft first from Account → Security.
You can still sign in with email and password at any time.
Disconnect Microsoft
You can remove Microsoft sign-in at any time.
- Sign in (with your password, or with Microsoft while it is still connected).
- Go to Account → Security.
- Click Disconnect Microsoft and confirm.
After disconnect, you sign in with your password again.
Important: An xTool password must be set before you can disconnect Microsoft. If no password is set, Disconnect Microsoft is not available — use Update password → Change Password on the same Security page first, then disconnect.
Disconnecting Microsoft does not delete your xTool account or your data.

For administrators
- Create the xTool user before the person connects Microsoft.
- The user’s xTool email and Microsoft email should match.
- The account must be verified and active.
- Users connect Microsoft themselves from Account → Security. Administrators do not link Microsoft on the user’s behalf from the login page.
