Partners
A partner in xTool is a reusable business-party card: a customer (or other counterparty) whose name, identifiers, address, contact, Peppol endpoint, and bank details you store once and reuse on invoices.
Partners belong to the active organisation. They are not users and not subsidiary organisations.
The organisation itself (the seller on outbound invoices) is not created through Partners. Seller data comes from organisation settings.
What a partner is for
- Prefill buyer (and related party) fields when you create a document in the web form.
- Keep a Peppol endpoint (scheme + value) next to the customer, so send via Peppol does not require retyping the recipient ID.
- Store payment details (IBAN, BIC, account name) that can be copied onto the invoice.
See Partners interface for the screens.
Partner types
The web form currently creates partners as Customer — the buyer on an outbound invoice.
Other types exist in the data model and may appear on imported or organisation-owned cards:
| Type | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Customer | Buyer on documents you send |
| Client (Inbound) | Counterparty on received documents |
| Delivery | Delivery / ship-to party |
| Tax Representative | Tax representative party |
| Organisation | The organisation’s own party card (not created in Partners) |
Typical fields
| Group | Examples |
|---|---|
| Basic | Name, trading name, partner type |
| Identification | Party ID (scheme + value), legal registration (scheme + value), Peppol endpoint (scheme + value), VAT ID, tax ID |
| Addresses | Street lines, city, postal code, country; one address can be default |
| Contacts | Name, phone, email; one contact can be default |
| Payment details | Account name, IBAN, BIC; one row can be default |
| Additional data | Extra key/value fields per partner type (for example a buyer reference) |
The default address, contact, and payment row are what the invoice form copies when you pick the partner.
Relation to documents
Selecting a partner on the create/edit form copies values into the document. Changing the partner later does not update documents you already saved. Changing a saved document does not change the partner card.
