Set up Peppol
This guide describes how to register Peppol IDs and document formats for an organisation in the web app.
After an ID is active, inbound invoices to that participant appear under Documents → Inbound, and you can send via Peppol. See Peppol.
Where to configure
Open Channels → Peppol.
This is not configured under Organisation. The Organisation page only shows existing Peppol IDs.
xTool uses one Peppol network per instance (production or test). The page title states which network you are on.
How it works
Each configuration is one Peppol participant ID (scheme:value) plus the document formats registered for that ID.
| Change | When it applies |
|---|---|
| Add or remove a document format | Immediately |
| Register, change, or delete a Peppol ID | After a request is approved |
Requests are usually approved or rejected within a short time. Open Requests to see Pending, Processing, Approved, Rejected, or Failed.
Register a Peppol ID
- Sign in and select the organisation.
- Open Channels → Peppol.
- Click the action to add a configuration (New Peppol registration request).
- Fill in:
- Country
- Peppol ID type (scheme, e.g.
9930Germany VAT,0088GLN) - Peppol ID value — the identifier without the scheme prefix (no
:) - Format preset (optional) — e.g. Billing, XRechnung, Self-billing — or pick Initial formats yourself
- Submit. Status is Pending until approval.
The stored participant ID is {type}:{value}. If that ID is already registered, choose another value.
When the ID becomes active, xTool tries to register the initial formats you selected.
Document formats
On an active configuration, Document formats lists the message types this ID can receive.
- Add Format — choose a Peppol-capable format (XRechnung UBL, Peppol BIS Billing, self-billing, …). It becomes active immediately.
- Delete format — removes that format from the participant.
You can copy the Peppol document identifier (the busdox document type id) from a format row.
See Formats for which codes support Peppol.
Change or delete an ID
Edit submits a request to change the participant ID. Delete submits a request to remove the participant (optional reason). Neither change is live until approved.
After setup
- Give counterparties the exact Peppol ID (
scheme:value) and confirm you are on the same network (test vs production). - Check a recipient with Peppol Lookup before the first send.
- Inbound documents: Receive via Peppol.
- Outbound send: Send via Peppol.
