Receive via Peppol

This guide describes how inbound documents arrive via Peppol and what you need to configure.

How it works

When a partner sends a document to your Peppol ID, the document is delivered to xTool and appears as an inbound document in your organisation. You do not need to "accept" it — it is created automatically and listed under Documents → Inbound.

Prerequisites

  • At least one active Peppol ID for the organisation (scheme + value, e.g. scheme 9930, value — German VAT ID). Without this, inbound documents cannot be assigned to your organisation. See Peppol.
  • Configuration is done in the web app: Channels → Peppol. See Set up Peppol and Channels interface.

Where to see inbound documents

  • Web: Documents → filter or section Inbound. Open a document to view details, PDF, XML, and status log.
  • API: List documents with direction=inbound (or equivalent filter). GET document by ID for full details.

See Documents UI and Document model.

If documents do not appear

  • Check that the Peppol ID (scheme + value) for your organisation is correct and that senders use exactly this ID.
  • Check that you are on the correct Peppol network (test vs production) and that the sender uses the same network.
  • Check document status and logs (e.g. failed delivery) in the web app or via API.
