Getting started

xTool is a platform for electronic invoices and credit notes: create, send, and receive via Peppol and email in standard formats (XRechnung, Peppol BIS, Factur-X, etc.). This section walks you through your first steps — via the web interface or REST API.

What you need before starting

  • Access to your xTool environment (web app and API URL).
  • Account: login and password for the web interface or an API key for integration.

!!! info "If you are an administrator" Create or select an organisation first. Documents, API keys, and integrations are tied to the organisation. See Organisation and users.


Typical path

  1. Organisation — Create or select an organisation. If you will receive documents via Peppol, set up organisation Peppol ID.
  2. Users and permissions — Assign permissions (documents, API, integrations). For API access: API keys and permissions.
  3. First documentCreate or upload an invoice or credit note. Basics: document model.
  4. First send — Send the document via Peppol or by email.
