Transactions

A transaction in xTool represents the process of transferring a file between companies. Each time a document is sent or received, a transaction is created to track the entire process from start to finish, including all technical steps required to successfully deliver or receive a document, along with comprehensive logging and monitoring.

Transaction Types

xTool supports three main types of transactions:

Sending by Peppol - When your organization sends an XML document through the Peppol network to another company. This transaction handles the secure transmission of your documents to customers or partners who are registered in the Peppol network.

Receiving by Peppol - When another company sends a document to xTool's access point for your organization. This transaction processes incoming documents from your suppliers, customers, or business partners through the Peppol network.

Sending by Email - When your organization sends documents via email to recipients. This transaction handles the email delivery process, including attachment preparation and email transmission.

Transaction Lifecycle

Every transaction goes through a complete lifecycle that includes:

Processing - The transaction is actively being processed, which includes validation, formatting, and transmission preparation.

Success - The transaction has completed successfully, meaning the document was delivered to the recipient or received from the sender without any issues.

Error - The transaction encountered a problem during processing, such as delivery failures, validation errors, or network issues.

Transaction Logging and Metadata

Each transaction is comprehensively logged in the xTool system, storing detailed information about:

  • Transaction start and end times
  • Processing details and any error messages
  • File paths and delivery routes
  • Success or failure status
  • Complete audit trail for compliance and troubleshooting

This metadata ensures complete traceability of all document transfers, providing transparency and accountability for all business document exchanges.

Transaction Monitoring

The system continuously monitors all transactions, providing real-time status updates and detailed reporting to track document deliveries, identify issues quickly, and maintain the integrity of your electronic document exchange processes.
